Eternal Reefs

An Eternal Reef may be an appropriate tribute for many people – those with a passion for the sea, such as fishermen, sailors, veterans or environmentally conscious individuals.

An Eternal Reef memorial takes place in three stages. The first, the Casting, allows friends and family to help build the memorial reef. Your loved one's cremated remains are mixed into an environmentally safe concrete. Once cast, handprints and messages can be added into the damp concrete, creating a truly personalized and unique memorial for your loved one.

The second stage, the Viewing, allows family and friends to view, touch, photograph and take rubbings from the reef memorial. Finally, the Dedication takes the friends and family of the departed onboard a chartered vessel to witness the memorial reef being placed in the ocean.

During the boat ride, friends and family are invited to decorate a tribute reef which is placed alongside the memorial, allowing messages to live on forever with your loved one. Individual dedications are made and a memorial ceremony takes place on board whilst the reef is lowered to the selected location. As the boat horn sounds three times, the memorial is complete and the family ship heads back to the dock.
