Poppy
Power Memorial To War Dead
One of Yorkshire's
longest established funeral directors is paying a special tribute
to the war dead and serving military by erecting one of the region's
biggest poppies.
Eric F Box, in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, has hung the five-foot
by five-foot poppy on the side of its bereavement home in Bradford
Road.
Managing director Richard Box said: "We support the Royal British
Legion's Poppy Appeal every year by carrying poppies on all funeral
vehicles, but this year we wanted to do things a little differently.
"I have only ever seen these huge 'building poppies' in London
and thought they looked perfect for our bereavement home. So, this
year, we decided to make our donation in that way.
"It took three men and two ladders to put it up, but the results
are definitely worth it and well in time for the launch of the Poppy
Appeal in this region on 29th October."
Eric F. Box is a long established, independent, family owned and
managed business, dedicated to the principles, values and benefits
of the traditional funeral. It offers funeral and after care services
such as bereavement counselling and has a satellite office in Ossett
town centre in Wakefield.
The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading ex-service charity
providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who
have served and currently serve in the British Armed Forces, and
their dependents.
